MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Elections Commission has voted unanimously to change its guidance regarding ballot dropboxes for the April 5th spring election, following guidance from the state Supreme Court.
The decision will restrict communities to just one ballot dropbox that must be placed near the municipal clerk’s office, and also states that only the voter can return their ballot to the box.
Previous guidelines which allowed for ballot dropboxes to be placed in other public areas such as a library or city park were allowed to remain in place through the spring primary, but those boxes will need to be removed for further elections.
