MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A 7-5 setback to the Cincinnati Reds saw the Brewers fall to second place in the NL Central on Saturday, a full game behind St. Louis.
Christian Yelich led the offense going 3-4 with a run scored from the leadoff spot. Both Andrew McCutchen and Keston Hiura went 1-2 with two RBI. Both homered in the game as well.
Aaron Ashby took the loss on the mound, falling to 2-10 on the season. He allowed three hits, four earned runs, and five walks in just over 4 innings.
The game went to the bottom of the 9th with the Reds leading 7-3. Milwaukee was able to create some traffic on the bases and brought home two runs on “productive” outs- an RBI groundout from Willy Adames and a sac fly from McCutchen, but couldn’t muster anything more.
Game three of the weekend set is this afternoon, coverage will begin at 12:35 on WSAU.
