WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau police arrested a man following a domestic disturbance involving a handgun on Sunday.
According to a press release officers responded to a home on Rachel Lane where they say a man pointed a handgun at his girlfriend and fired one shot.
No one was hit by the shot, and the man was not in the home when police arrived. Officers learned he had left the home, taking a three-year-old child with him.
Poice found his vehicle nearby and were able to initiate a traffic stop. He was taken into custody without further incident. The child was also recovered unharmed.
Police are recommending five charges against the man including attempted first degree intentional homicide and being armed while intoxicated, both with domestic modifiers. Additional charges of possession of THC and first offense OWI are also being recommended.
The man has not been identified, and no further information will be released until Tuesday due to the holiday.
