WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Board of Education will hear an update on the district-wide restructuring conversation Monday evening.
According to materials presented with Monday’s agenda, board members will hear an update from the committee that’s been exploring the proposal for several months. That will include a suggested motion from the leaders to put more detailed plans in place over the next few weeks.
The presentation includes information from surveys that shows both the school staff and families in the district are in alignment on the benefits of restricting the district. Those include cost savings, improved student experience, and balancing staff experience and work conditions.
No specific plan for consolidating elementary schools and possibly restructuring the secondary schools currently exists, though Monday’s presentation does include a call for the board to direct the administration to develop such plans.
A district-wide restructuring website is also being proposed to create a centralized location for information on the possibility as the discussion plays out. Tonight’s meeting begins at 5 PM at the Nicholson Board Room and will be broadcast by public access and on the district’s YouTube page.
Two community dialogs are also scheduled on the issue. One will be held Wednesday at Wausau West, the other on December 7th at East.
