WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man has been accused of cutting another man’s throat while using drugs last fall.
Lee Xiong appeared in court Wednesday, where a judge ordered him held on a $250,000 bond for one count of attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Investigators say he used a box cutter to slit the victim’s throat.
Investigators say Xiong, 37, was trying to kill the victim, who was not identified because he thought the victim was trying to kill him. Officers say Xiong was insistent that someone had placed a hit on him, and thought the victim would try to carry it out.
Xiong and the victim had been using drugs in the hours before the incident and Xiong had gone several days without sleeping.
If convicted Xiong faces up to 60 years in prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for January 25th, and a pre-trial conference will be held in April.
Should Xiong post bond he’s been instructed to have no contact with the victim and maintain absolute sobriety. He must also take all medications as prescribed, and will not be allowed to have any dangerous weapons.
Officers say the incident happened last October. Xiong was arrested on Monday night.
