NEW YORK NY (MetroSource-WSAU) Major League Baseball is keeping one of its experimental rule changes.
ESPN reports the league will continue to have a runner on second base to start each extra inning during all regular-season extra-inning games. The MLB joint competition committee has voted unanimously to make the rule permanent after three seasons of implementing it.
The league also reportedly made a change to position players pitching, as teams must lead by ten or more runs in the ninth inning to send a position player to the mound. The rule also applies if a team is trailing by eight or more runs.
