NASHVILLE, TN (WSAU) — Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to grow his investment portfolio.
On Thursday, the NBA MVP and his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex were announced as new investors in Major League Soccer Club Nashville SC.
The quartet joins names like actress Reese Witherspoon, her husband Jim Toth, Tennessee Titans Running Back Derrick Henry, and Nashville Predators player Filip Forsberg as owners of the third-year club.
Nashville SC joined MLS in 2020 and played their first year at Nissan Stadium before moving into GEODIS Park, the largest soccer-specific stadium in the US. The club made the MLS Cup playoffs last year. Their roster features two US Men’s National Team players in Walker Zimmerman and Shaq Moore.
It’s unclear how much the Antetokounmpos have invested in the club. Giannis also owns a stake in the Milwaukee Brewers. He also joins a handful of other NBA players that have invested in MLS clubs including Kevin Durant (Philadelphia Union), James Harden (Houston Dynamo FC), and Dwayne Wade (Real Salt Lake). NFL QBs Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson also own shares of Sporking Kansas City and the Seattle Sounders, respectively.
