WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An online tool to report face mask violations in Marathon County is now live.
The Marathon County Health Department launched an online complaint form Thursday afternoon for residents to report concerns about violations to the Health Department. The tool was created to help the county enforce the Governor Emergency Order released on July 30th requiring face coverings in all indoor public spaces. The form was initially supposed to launch at the end of last week but was delayed due to technical issues.
With the form, the Health Department says their primary intention is to educate the public on the need and benefit of wearing a face covering to control and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Citizens are also encouraged to social distance, wash their hands, and isolate or quarantine when displaying symptoms to prevent or slow the spread. The community working together by performing those actions can help get kids back to school, keep adults working, and keep businesses open.
The Health Department recommends using the form to share observations about face covering violations. It is not recommended for residents to call 9-1-1 or police departments when reporting violations so as to not clog up the lines for emergency services.
The form can be found at the Health Department’s webpage, www.co.marathon.wi.us/Departments/HealthDepartment/COVID19.
