WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – The Wausau Economic Development Committee got updates on Tuesday night on several key projects happening around the city.
The projects included the North Riverfront project, trail developments, and issues surrounding affordable housing. City planners stated that the north riverfront project continues to see steady progress, and updates on it should continue to be seen over the coming months.
Development Director Liz Brodeck stated that she feels good about where these projects are currently at, saying, “Big projects take time, so I think the slow and steady progress that we’re seeing…you know, not a lot is out in front of the public right now, but that doesn’t mean that a lot isn’t happening behind the scenes.” Brodeck continued by stating, “It’s good that we’re able to continue with this work even when it’s slow and quiet.”
A citizen did speak out during the meeting to let the committee know about her opposition to the Bantr Development Agreement happening on Wausau’s Elm St. Director Brodeck says she remains confident in the city’s and committee’s plan, saying, “I think it’s a step in the right direction. Alderman Hencke was really spot on when he said he could’ve used it ten years ago. I know a lot of people moving to town now that want a house but need something more short-term so this will fill a key need in Wausau.”
