MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – In Sunday’s preseason match against the Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard will make his official team debut and will be the first time fans get to see him and Giannis Antetokounmpo on the floor together.
During an appearance on NBA Today on Wednesday, Bucks coach Adrian Griffin confirmed Lillard would indeed play.
“The more opportunities we can get them playing together the better so count on Sunday is when we want to see them out there in live competitive play. This is an exciting time for us and we’re just taking this process step by step.”

Lillard explained to Eric Nehm of The Athletic that Giannis Antetokounmpo is unlike any other teammate he has had up to this point saying, “So, it’s just different because it was like, that’s a cheat code,” Lillard said. “To just be able to throw a ball up and have somebody be coordinated enough to hold his guy off, go up, catch it, come down on balance, go up and no dribble, no step and dunk it, you know, over people. So, I mean, it’s … it’s definitely different, man.”
The Bucks traded for Lillard in a blockbuster deal last month in order to keep help Antetokounmpo happy in the long run. Antetokounmpo has stated publicly more than once that he would contemplate leaving the Milwaukee Bucks if he did not believe the franchise was as devoted to winning championships.
