MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers may be without one of their top starting pitchers next season as Brandon Woodruff continues to rehab from a shoulder injury.
According to MLB.com Adam McCalvy, underwent surgery today to repair the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. The team says he is expected to miss most of if not all of next season.
Brewers GM Matt Arnold released a statement saying, “Brandon is not only one of the best pitchers in our franchise’s history but is also a valued member of our organization off the field. He and his wife, Jonie, have gone above and beyond here in the community.”
With a starting 1-2-3 of Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta, the Brewers had every reason to be optimistic about their chances of winning the NL Central and possibly making a deep playoff run after Woodruff’s return to the team on August 6. He went 5-1 with a 2.28 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched over nine starts in 2023.
