WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The trial of a Wausau man accused of shooting an acquaintance has been delayed once again.
Desmond Mayo was scheduled for trial this month for one count of attempted homicide. Police say he shot a man in a residential area near Canyon Ridge Golf Club. He then fled while the victim managed to drive himself to the emergency room.
The victim immediately identified Mayo as a suspect, prompting a multi-state manhunt that ended two weeks later when Mayo was arrested by US Marshals near Chicago.

The shooting appeared to be drug-related. Officers did not identify the victim in the case, and no update on their condition was released.
The trial was delayed on Wednesday due to “new developments” in the case, though court records don’t specify what those developments may be. The case is cross-referenced with a prior drug case linked to Mayo in which he is accused of possessing cocaine that was packaged for delivery.
Mayo will return to court for a pretrial conference on December 13th.
