WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Children’s Imaginarium in Wausau is set to open soon after a lengthy construction period.
It’s an interactive museum that aims to teach children about the science of underlying things they see every day, such as trees and streams.
The museum will be located on the site of the former Wausau Center Mall on 2nd Street, and the folks in charge wanted to make sure that Central Wisconsin was prominently displayed.
“From the beginning, we wanted it to feel local, and so the exhibits speak to that, from the food you find in the market to what the water gallery features, emphasizes it’s all Marathon County,” said Maggie Gordon, a past president of the Children’s Imaginarium Board of Directors.
The official opening date is December 6, with entry currently set at $10 per person. Annual memberships begin at $150.
Beginning Black Friday, people can buy gift cards or memberships in-person from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
