WESTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – It was a big day for athletes in Weston, as the Special Olympics Wisconsin Bowling State Championships were at Dale’s Weston Lanes.
Over 1,000 athletes showed up to compete, and pins weren’t the only things being smashed though, for the second year in a row the event broke the record number of people in attendance.
“They had competed in a six week bowling league to get to this point, and only a small part of them advanced on to our state competition. so, this is really kind of the best of the best when we talk about our competition here. it’s a really cool thing to not only do that, not only compete at a high level, but also to interact with people from across the state, and really get to celebrate this together,” said Jason Blank VP of Sports & Programs SOWI.
