MADISON – Cassie Sonnentag has been promoted by Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation to its senior director of public relations.
In this role, Sonnentag will continue to oversee WFBF’s media relations, social media and advertising efforts and work extensively with the Gather Wisconsin brand. In addition, she will be co-managing the newly established WisGO Team, the WFBF Communications Intern, WFBF Event Ambassadors and content freelancers.
Since 2021, Cassie has been WFBF’s Director of Media Relations and Outreach. Before joining the communications team, Cassie was Farm Bureau’s District 4 Coordinator. Prior to starting at WFBF in 2017, she worked for the newspaper, Dairy Star, as the Midwest regional reporter.
“Cassie does an incredible job communicating on behalf of our farmers because she is a farmer herself,” said WFBF Executive Director of Public Relations Amy Eckelberg. “I am so proud to have Cassie on our team. She understands the unique communication needs of Wisconsin agriculture and has the knowledge to grow these efforts even more.”
Cassie and her husband, Allen (Bud), live near Cadott with their daughter, where they are involved in the family’s farming business, Sonnentag Custom Farming. Cassie earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, communications and leadership from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation is the state’s largest general farm organization. Made up of 61 county Farm Bureaus, it represents farms of all sizes, commodities and management styles.
