WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – As Hunter Biden continues to attempt to have gun charges against him dismissed, officials have released new evidence that they hope will lead to his conviction.
The New York Post reports that FBI agents discovered white powder on the pouch containing the locked Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver when they took it out of a state police vault to take pictures of it earlier this year. This information was disclosed in a court document from special counsel David Weiss.
“An FBI chemist subsequently analyzed the residue and determined that it was cocaine,” the 52-page document read. “To be clear, investigators literally found drugs on the pouch where the defendant had kept his gun.”
Weiss’ team recounted the evidence it had to confirm that the troubled first son was using illicit drugs at the time he completed a background check to buy the pistol and stated he was not addicted to any illicit substance, committing a federal crime in the process. The gun was discovered in a trash can behind a grocery store in Delaware back in 2018.
Biden’s accusations that he is being singled out for political purposes were dismissed by prosecutors, who declared that “the strength of the evidence against him is overwhelming.”
The Post reports that Hunter is now being charged with three felonies relating to federal firearms. In addition, he is also facing six misdemeanor and three felony counts in Los Angeles for allegedly dodging taxes totaling $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019.
