MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Tomahawk woman accused of having a package of meth on her during a court hearing in January skipped a court appearance on Tuesday.
Brianna Hoople failed to show as she faces one felony count for possession of meth and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. These charges stem from a January 10th court appearance on an unrelated charge of disorderly conduct in a domestic abuse setting and contempt of court.
During the January court appearance, a judge noted that Hoople has been known to skip court appearances or show up late. At the time the Judge requested that she either report to jail the day before a hearing or sign a $1,500 signature bond. The 25-year-old became confrontational during that hearing and was eventually taken to the Lincoln County Jail for disorderly conduct. A search of her person turned up a small package of meth, leading to the new charges.
She was kept in jail overnight and made an initial appearance for the drug charges the next day. She then signed the bond and posted the first $250 in cash. That has been forfeited, and a new bench warrant has been issued.
A judge has scheduled a return on that warrant for Thursday.
Court records for the disorderly conduct- domestic abuse and contempt of court case, which dates back to May of 2023, show she also skipped appearances in October.
