Wausau’s Finance Committee and City Council will both discuss a proposal to send members of the city’s police department to Milwaukee to help secure the 2024 Republican National Convention at Fiserv Forum.
According to the proposal, Wausau would be reimbursed by the city of Milwaukee for all salary and travel expenses. The proposal doesn’t say how many officers would be going, though it does not that the city had a similar agreement with Milwaukee for the 2020 Democratic National Convention before COVID-19 forced the event into a virtual format that originated from the Milwaukee Convention Center.
The proposal is on both agendas for Tuesday. The Finance Committee meeting begins at 5:15, with the City Council meeting to follow at 6:30.
