WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A man suspected in the death of Nicole Sandoval in the Wood County Town of Auburndale is being held on a $1 million bond, facing possible second-degree homicide charges.
Court records show Alec Beach was in a Wood County courtroom on Thursday to waive his right to a preliminary hearing. A judge then found probable cause and ordered a preliminary hearing and arraignment.
The 22-year-old is accused of driving while Sandoval was hanging onto the side of his pickup- with her feet on the running boards and her hands holding on to the driver’s side window, which was partially rolled down.
Investigators say Beach sped off as Sandoval was hanging on, then started swerving which threw her off the vehicle. She died of blunt-force trauma, according to an autopsy.
Witnesses noted that Beach and Sandoval had been arguing on the roadway leading up to the incident.
Court records show Beach has been in jail since September 18th on a $1 million bond with a full no-contact order against Sandoval’s family. Further court dates have not been set.
