EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU) — Attorney General Brad Schimel has announced the arrest of Ryan Frederick of Eagle River on suspicion of possession of child pornography and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to Schimel the Department of Justice and Internet Crimes Against Children task force teamed up with the Vilas County Sheriff’s office and local law enforcement to execute the investigation and arrest.
Frederick was in a Vilas County courtroom on Wednesday and formally charged with ten counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
In a statement, Schimel credited the ICAC task force and the recently passed Alicia’s Law with helping the investigation. Alicia’s Law created an administrative subpoena process that expedites the procedure for finding the location of suspected internet sex predators and provides additional funding to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) program.
Frederick will return to court on August 20th for his initial appearance.
