MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers added to their infield depth on Thursday by signing free agent Cory Spangenberg.
The 27 year old, who has a minor league option remaining, was a first round draft pick of the San Diego Padres and played parts of five seasons with San Diego.
He has played second and third base and the outfield. He hit .235 last season in 298 at-bats with sevenb homers and 25 RBI’s.
He is expected to fill a short-term opening at second base while the Brewers await the arrival of touted youngsters Keston Hiura and Mauricio Dubron.
