WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Another 102 of America’s finest heroes will have the chance to see memorials built in their honor Monday when the 35th Never Forgotten Honor Flight takes off from the Central Wisconsin Airport.
The latest mission will carry one World War II, 19 Korean War, and 82 Vietnam-Era Veterans to Washington to see their respective memorials.
The Veterans were treated to dinner and a night of entertainment on Sunday at a Wausau-area hotel before Monday’s pre-dawn departure to the Washington, DC.
They’ll return to CWA by 10 PM Monday evening to a hero’s welcome. For many, especially Vietnam-era Vets, it’s the welcome home they never received when they returned from service years ago.
As always residents are encouraged to gather at the CWA lobby Monday evening to welcome home the Honor Flight participants.
