NEW YORK, NY (WSAU) — It’s the first of what could be several postseason awards for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The National Basketball Coaches Association named Mike Budenholzer it’s 2018-19 Michael H. Goldberg Coach of the Year in the NBA after he led the Bucks to the league’s best record at 60-22.
Budenholzer engineered a 16-game improvement for the team, who finished 44-38 in the 2017-’18 season and lost to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the opening round of the playoffs. Milwaukee was also the only team in the NBA to rank in the top four in both offensive and defensive efficiency during the just-completed regular season
The Michael H. Goldberg Coach of the Year award is voted on by all 30 head coaches in the NBA and is awarded separately from the NBA Coach of the Year honor, which will be presented at the NBA awards show in Los Angeles following the completion of the Finals.
Milwaukee opens their best-of-seven first round playoff series against the Detroit Pistons Sunday evening at Fiserv Forum.
