WINNIPEG, MB (WSAU) – The Packers gave up 12 unanswered points in the second half and lost 22-21 to the Raiders in a preseason game in Winnipeg.
Tim Boyle threw two TD passes in a 21-point second quarter for Green Bay. Tra Carson had a two-yard TD run.
The Packers and Raiders played on a modified field last night in Winnipeg. It was shortened to 80 yards to avoid goal post holes in the end zones from what is normally a CFL field. There were also no kickoffs and teams began with the ball on their own 25. The goal lines were moved to the 10 yard line.
Aaron Rodgers was among those who didn’t play due to the conditions. The Raiders announced shortly before the beginning of the game that they didn’t bring many starters -and those who were there would not play. Packer coach Matt LaFleur then decided to sit 33 players.
The Packers are hoping an injury to first-round pick Rashan Gary isn’t serious. The rookie linebacker out of Michigan was carted off the field after a collision against the Raiders in the second quarter. Gary was drafted with the 12th overall pick in April.
Green Bay will finish the preseason with a home game next Thursday vs Kansas City.
