VILLAGE of WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The Village of Weston now has a permanent Village Administrator.
Keith Donner, former Director of Public Works and Acting Administrator of the Village of Weston moves to be the permanent Village Administrator on Tuesday, February 18th. Donner has been serving as the Acting Administrator since former Administrator Daniel Guild left the Village in July. Donner also has served as the Acting Administrator before back in 2012.
After a closed session discussion about the agreement during Monday night’s Board of Trustee’s meeting, the board unanimously approved Donner’s administrator agreement. Several members of the board spoke after telling Donner how excited they were to work with him as the Village Administrator.
Board President Barbara Ermeling says the administrator agreement is continuous and is not a contract like with former administrator Guild. “It’s continuous. I mean each year we will review salary, review his performance. And if at some point in time there is a 30-day notice that he would have to give us before he left. But no it’s not a contract, it’s an agreement.”
Ermeling is also pleased that Donner took the position after he was initially hesitant to the idea of being Village Administrator. “I’m very happy that he accepted. Keith is a very capable person and he’s very honest and I think he will do a really good job.”
The board also changed an ordinance about administrator residency during their meeting because it violated a state statute. Ermeling says, “That sentence is actually against state statute. It’s from when you still could require residency or you could require them living within 15 miles. We changed the whole ordinance because it didn’t abide by state statute.”
Ermeling also says the village plans on hiring from within to find a new Public Works Director with Donner leaving the position. The timeline for the hiring of that position and any spots to be filled will be up to Donner as the Village Administrator.
