WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The Wausau Fire Department kicked off their annual Fill the Boot campaign during Wednesday night’s Concerts on the Square.
The money raised goes to supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association(MDA) which is a partner of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF).
Wednesday’s event was the first Fill the Boot event of the year, there will be additional chances to give during Wausau Rib and Baloon Fest, Big Bull Falls Blues Fest, and during the Tomahawk Fall Ride for MDA.
“Every little bit helps you know, even a dollar if there’s say a thousand people out here and everyone gives a dollar that’s a thousand dollars closer to our goal, so we clearly couldn’t do it without the patrons of Wausau,” Corey Parsch a firefighter paramedic with Wausau Fire Department, told WAOW-TV.
Last year, Wausau Fire Department raised $15,000 which was seventh among fire departments in the state. Their goal for this year is $17,500.
