WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Wausau Chamber of Commerce held their annual economic outlook meeting Thursday morning.
The meeting focused on how to move the Wausau areas economic future forward. President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, Dave Eckmann told WAOW-TV that the Chamber noticed the challenge areas for the region and put together a 5 to 10-year economic plan.
He says the 3 main parts of the plan are attracting talent, growing innovative tech-based companies, and the quality of the area. “Communities throughout the country like Wausau are competing for talent and building communities. And so if we’re going to retain companies here, we’re going to retain people here. We have to be very intentional about where we put our efforts with the resources and building strong public, private partnerships.”
Eckmann said the chamber is addressing the areas threats and weaknesses by understanding them. You can find the entire economic plan on the Chamber’s website.
