STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A two-week jury trial is set to begin Monday for Jason Sypher, the 43-year-old charged with killing his wife over two years ago.
Sypher faces one felony count of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse after his wife Krista disappeared in March of 2017. According to prosecutors, Jason killed her then disposed of her body in a garbage dumpster.
Evidence entered against Jason includes GPS tracking data from his car on the day of her disappearance along with traces of human remains that were found throughout the home. Those were detected by a K9 officer.
Police also found Krista’s iPhone and other personal belongings in a dumpster.
Jason is also said to have purchased large garbage bags around the time of Krista’s disappearance. Additionally, the 28-page complaint paints a picture of a rocky marriage between the two, with both accused of infidelity. Their children also say there was a history of abuse between the two.
Krista’s body has not been found despite numerous searches, including one at a nearby landfill.

Court records show the Sypher trial will run through Friday, October 25th. If found guilty he faces a mandatory life sentence.
Jason was arrested in August of 2018. Krista’s friends have long said they suspected he had something to do with her disappearance, saying he was too “calm and collected” when telling them she had run off.
