WAUTOMA, WI (WSAU) — Another Central Wisconsin county has a confirmed COVID-19 case.
According to a press release from Waushara County, Health Department confirms the county’s first positive case of COVID-19. The individual is isolated and no further information will be released at this time.
Patti Wohlfeil, the Waushara County Health Officer, says of the case, “While this information may make residents feel uneasy, it was not unexpected and there is no reason to panic. Now more than ever, it is important to stay at home and practice social distancing if you must go out.”
The release also states the Health Department is working with the DHS to prevent transmission by identifying and contacting anyone who has been in close contact with the patient. Those individuals will be asked to quarantine themselves for 14 days. All individuals with this case have been contacted according to the Health Department.
As of Sunday at 2 p.m. Wisconsin has 2,267 positive cases statewide with 68 deaths according to the State Department of Health Services. Of those positive cases, 624 people are hospitalized, which is 28% of all positive cases. There have been 25,169 negative tests in the state.
