MADISON, WI (WSAU) — A federal grand jury has indicted a Wausau man for three counts of tax evasion.
Officials say Leonard Kersten filed false tax returns which grossly understated his income for the years 2014-’16 that resulted in bigger refunds for himself and his wife.
Additionally, Kersten is accused of writing false ledgers for his company general ledger including over $1.7 million in checks that went unreported between January 2007 and September 2017.
If found guilty Kersten could face up to five years in federal prison for each count.
