WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Another Wausau-area gathering has been called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officials with Wausau Events have announced that the 2020 Beer and Bacon Fest scheduled for this September has been canceled. Organizers cited a recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the Wausau area and continued uncertainty about the direction of the pandemic as reasons for the decision.
“Our goal at Wausau Events has always been to deliver the best possible event experiences for our fans and sponsors. Know that we are more driven than ever to deliver on this mission,” said officials in a press release on Saturday.
The popular event brings hundreds of different beer and bacon samples to Wausau’s Fern Island Park for visitors to try along with live music.
The next Beer and Bacon Fest is scheduled for September 18th, 2021.
Additionally, Wausau Events announced there will be no in-person concerts in the 400 block this summer. The group had previously called off the popular Wednesday night gatherings through July 31st but left open the possibility that the events could be held in August.
