WESTON, WI (WSAU) – The Weston Village Board voted to leave the SAFER fire district.
The vote was to terminate their contract with the South Area Fire and Emergency Response District (SAFER) when it expires in December of 2021.
Some village trustees said they have concerns with the way the SAFER fire district is managed. They are calling for stronger leadership.
The village trustees haven’t made a decision about how fire protection would be provided to the village after the contract runs out. They also suggest the decision could be reconsidered if there are changes at SAFER between now and then.
