GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — Gereen Bay Packer quarterback Aaron Rodgers talked with reporters on Friday for the first time since the Packers drafted Jordan Love with their first pick in the recent NFL draft.
Rodgers said that “he was surprised and less than thrilled with the pick” and admitted it might be a signal that he would have to finish his career with another team.
He says he hopes to go out and “prove that I am still an elite player in this league, and if I do that I feel I’ve got a good opportunity to finish my career as a Green Bay Packer.”
He said he understands the team looking at the future outlook and respects the decision but “I still believe in myself and have strong desirer to play into my 40’s. I’m just not sure how that all works together at this point.”
He said he holds no ill feelings toward Love and understands that GM Brian Gutekunst is making decisions that he believes are in the best interest of the team.
