EAU CLAIRE, WI (WSAU) – Faculty at UW-Eau Claire are being told to take rolling furloughs during the month of August.
Chancellor Jim Schmidt announced during a briefing last week that all staff will take between and 12 days off, without pay, during August. The exact number of days depends on each employees salary. Schmidt said administrators and campus deans will take a 6.5% pay cut, the equivalent of a 17-day furlough.
UW-Eau Claire is anticipating a $7.5-million shortfall anticipated for the next academic year.
UW System President Ray Cross announced on Friday that all UW campuses will be open in the fall, although many will have reduced staffing and course offerings.
