Born in Wausau, Wis., on Mar. 22, 1920 Departed Dec. 29, 2016 Orville E. Kneisl, 96, Wausau, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born March 22, 1920 in Wausau, son of the late William and Katie Kneisl. On July 26, 1941, he married Lorraine Clairmore in Wausau. She preceded him in death on May 29, 1990. Orville proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas as an Aviation Machinist's Mate first class from 1942 until 1945. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 492, Rothschild. One of his most cherished memories was his trip on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight in 2011. He farmed in the town of Weston until his retirement in 1984. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed traveling, fishing trips to Canada, hunting trips to Montana and spending time with his family. Survivors include, three daughters, Yvonne (Jim) Schmoll, Denise Bobert and Tammie (special friend, Craig Grahn) Kneisl, all of Wausau; two grandchildren, Julie (Richie) Goldschmidt, Dorchester and Kevin (Stacy) Schmoll, Wausau; and five great-grandchildren, Larissa, Katelyn, Malorie and Lindsey Schmoll and Kyle Finke. Besides his parents and wife, Lorraine, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tracey Schmoll; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Schmoll; two sisters, Ferne Hafeman and Amelia "Millie" Kurth-Unertle; one brother, William Kneisl II; half-brother, Wilbur Shear; and step-brother, Dustie Martin. Funeral services will be at Noon on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, with full military honors conducted by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
