UPDATE – There is now a report that Paul Hitz was found deceased on Sunday. Wausau PD had reported Sunday afternoon that the missing man and his vehicle have been located. There was nothing in that press release that suggested that Hitz was dead. Wausau Pilot & Review are reporting that the family of Hitz has confirmed that he was found deceased.
The release at 2pm Sunday said: “Paul Hitz and his vehicle have been located. With respect for the Hitz family, we are not releasing any additional information at this time.”
The circumstances surrounding Hitz’s disappearance have not been made public. There was a large police presence Sunday morning near the Wisconsin River off Hwy W just north of Evergreen Road. It’s unknown at this time if that was part of the search for Hitz.
