UNDATED (WSAU) — In case you haven’t noticed, there are a lot of orange barrels along central Wisconsin highways. Even more construction is getting underway this week.
In the Wausau area, work has resumed on the Highway 29 area near the Wisconsin River at Rothschild, and the I-39 Cedar Creek interchange is slowed down and the ramps are restricted. There is also more work underway at the intersections leading to Cedar Creek and the Expo Center district.
Construction is expected to resume today on Wausau’s north side, where the Highways 51, U, and K interchanges have been undergoing a multi-year rebuilding. Some ramps including K to southbound 51 will be closed for about a month.
Bridge work for I-39 over Highway 153 at Mosinee and I-39 over Reserve Street by Sentry World in Stevens Point also has lanes restricted and speeds reduced. The Highway 21 bridge over I-39 at Coloma is also closed, but ramps remain open
Remember fines double for speeding in construction zones, and you need to move over or slow down for emergency and maintenance vehicles with flashing lights.
