DORCHESTER, Wis. (WSAU) — A recent uptick in the economy means a new owner and new jobs for an idle Dorchester company.
Canadian American Homes announced Tuesday the purchase of Liberty Homes Inc. and all of it’s assets, including the two manufacturing facilities with over 230,000 square feet of production space. Canadian American Homes President Alan Emery says, “Demand is continuing to increase in the manufactured and modular home industry, and we believe CanAm will be a key player in this industry.”
Canadian American Homes worked with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s Business Opportunity Loan Fund to help finance the purchase. They plan to reopen both plants and hire 150 people during the next three years.
Liberty Homes originally operated from 1941 until two years ago when the Dorchester plants were the last of nine nationwide to shut down.
