WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAU) — Upcoming meetings planned for Tomah’s VA Medical Center will be good for improving veterans services. Congressman Sean Duffy says he encourages vets and their families to watch for two very different meetings at the Tomah campus. First, you can attend the March 12th Town Hall Meeting hosted by the Veterans Administration and their investigation team. “I’m pleased that the Tomah VA is now doing a town hall (meeting). I think this is a testament that the veterans in Wisconsin rose up and pushed back, and when they couldn’t get a response from the Tomah VA for years, they reached out to elected representatives who actually cared about their health care and their service.”
Duffy says the other meeting, which hasn’t been scheduled yet, will be the House Committee on Veterans Affairs holding a formal hearing in Tomah as they do their own investigation into over-medication and treatment issues. “I went to the head of the VA committee in the House (of Representatives) and asked him to hold a hearing in Tomah, so we could start shedding light on the lack of quality care that our veterans are receiving, and I think this is going to go a long way to making sure we fix the problems in Tomah.”
Duffy and other Wisconsin Members of Congress continue to encourage veterans and family members to contact them with VA System concerns, and to attend the upcoming meetings if possible.
