MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WDLB) — Marshfield Clinic is now offering same-day appointing. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laura Nelson says patients who would like to see a provider for a quick non-emergency medical condition now have the option of getting an appointment that day if they call before noon. “I think we live in a society now, where when people want care or they want things, they don’t want to wait, and so health care is no different, and we have to meet the needs of our patients.”
Dr. Nelson says there are examples where same-day appointing would not apply. “It’s not for a chronic medical condition that needs extensive work-up and testing. We will still accommodate those referrals so we can schedule the appropriate provider and get the appropriate testing, so it’s not for those complex, complicated conditions.”
In some cases, Nelson says patients will be offered an appointment at another nearby center if there’s a scheduling conflict. For example, a patient who wanted to see a family medicine provider at the Weston Center could be offered appointments at Wausau or Stettin if available.
