RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAU) — The final approval was given for a redevelopment project in Rib Mountain Tuesday night. The board unanimously approved the redevelopment of the Rib Mountain Travel Center and truck stop property into two new businesses: Dick’s Sporting Goods and a Red Robin restaurant.
Town Board Supervisor Frederick Schaefer told WAOW television this will be great for the south Rib Mountain Drive business district. “It’s a real win for the town and for the people to have that type of development, and to not have the truck traffic that often gums up the works on Rib Mountain Drive.”
Developers had considered locating in Wausau near the Stewart Avenue Kwik Trip, but decided on this location instead.
Now that the final approvals are finished, developers hope to begin demolition and construction soon. They anticipate opening the Red Robin restaurant first in early 2016.
