WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) — Officials at Riverview Medical say a pending affiliation with Aspirus is now complete and they are officially a part of the Aspirus health care system.
The process took four months of planning and procedures between the boards of the two groups. Riverview spokesperson Nan Taylor says says the partnership means that the two hospitals will be able to share resources and doctors more easily. “The intent is to expand services and bring new specialities into the area. What that means for patients is that they will have more services available locally.” Patients will be seeing the same doctors they normally would, but will have access to more of the Aspirus regional network.
Aspirus communications director Andy Napgezek says the affiliation means better opportunities for both Riverview and Aspirus patients in southern Wood County. “What this will help us to is serve the entire community with a more coordinated type of care. From primary care and clinic care, to inpatient hospital care and procedures as well.” Napgezek says access to Aspirus’ network will give Riverview better access to supply costs and other managerial savings. “I think any time you’re able to join forces with another organization, particularly an organization the size of Aspirus, it’s going to allow you access to efficiencies. I think that’s something that Riverview will see benefits from right off the bat.”
While there eventually will be some visible changes like new signage in the hospital, Taylor says visitors to Riverview will still receive the great care they have come to expect.
