MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) — Congressman Sean Duffy was in Marshfield for a Town Hall meeting Friday morning, and topics ranged from concern about common core curriculum, veterans issues, Iran’s nuclear program, and illegal immigration.
Duffy said the folks in Marshfield really turned-out, and the congressman says there’s a common theme to what he’s hearing all across the 7th District. According to Duffy, “There’s a feeling that the country’s going in the wrong direction, and they look to the Congress to say ‘Hey, What are you doing to fix it.’ And there’s a level of frustration that Congress hasn’t accomplished some of the things they thought they’d be able to accomplish with a President that’s been over-reaching.”
Besides fielding questions, Duffy started the town hall meeting by saying he’s especially concerned about a new program by the Department of Justice called “Operation Choke-point.” The program pressures banks to stop dealing with certain types of businesses, like gun dealers and ammunition manufacturers. “And if you can’t bank,” Duffy said, “you can’t do business in America!”
Every year, Duffy holds at least one town hall meeting in every county in Wisconsin’s Seventh Congressional District.
