TOWN OF BRIGHTON, Wis. (WSAU) — Marathon County deputies have identified the man found dead with a gunshot wound near Spencer Sunday night.
Deputies say 50-year-old Mark Bychinski was found with a fatal gunshot wound in his chest around 9:15 pm Sunday night. His rifle was found hanging nearby on a rope which was likely used to get it in and out of his tree stand. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Department of Natural Resources Warden Jon King says hunters should always keep their firearms unloaded until they need to be ready to shoot.
An autopsy was performed in Madison on Monday, and officials will be waiting for a full toxicology report before making a final determination of his cause of death. They are not suspecting any foul play at this time.
