PITTSVILLE, Wis. (WSAU) — It’s school as usual today in Pittsville, where classes and activities were called off Tuesday morning.
A parent called the Wood County Sheriff’s Department after overhearing a student threaten to bring a gun to school. Pittsville School District officials placed the facilities on lockdown while local police and sheriff’s deputies checked the school. The students had to stay in the classroom during the investigation.
Sheriff’s Captain Shawn Becker says there was no real threat, and they learned a student’s statement had been taken out of context and misunderstood.
Normal school activities resumed after noon.
