WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — Volunteers were doing a different kind of muskie fishing on Lake Wausau Thursday. Members of Bill’s Musky Club were stocking young muskies into the waterway that they had purchased from a private hatchery.
Musky Clubs Alliance Vice President Chuck Brod told WAOW television they do this in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to help sustain the population of the official state fish. “Each year we do this as one of our projects for Bill’s Musky Club,” Musky Clubs Alliance Vice President Chuck Brod said. “There’s a lot of fishing pressure out here and we continually want to keep these Muskies in this lake.”
The 300 muskies released Thursday were between 10 and 15 inches long.
