WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau Events has given away over $15,000 to other non-profit organizations in the area.
Executive Director of Wausau Events, Lindsey Lewitzke, says they were happy to be able to give back to the other organizations.
“We partnered with a lot of different non-profits this past year in terms of helping out with our events,” said Lewitzke. “And so, we were able to then (say) thank you and pay it forward to them to say ‘we appreciate your work that you did with us’. And it was just a great feeling to be able to give back to all those different organizations.”
Lewitzke also said because 2016 was so good to them they were able to help even more.
“2016 was a really good year for us and we were able to put in that extra amount to really let those organizations know that we see them and we understand that they do a thankless job for our events and we wanted to acknowledge that,” she said.
The over $15,000 being given back is the most ever given away by Wausau Events at the end of a year.
The organizations include Blessings in a Backpack, Habitat for Humanity, Southeast Side Neighborhood Airport Park, the Center for the Visual Arts, 3 Boy Scout troops, and the Wausau Children’s Museum.
