MERRILL, Wis. — Merrill High School will be seeking a new boys basketball coach. Superintendent Walter Leipart confirmed that current coach Kurt Soderberg will be resigning his coaching duties at the end of this season as a change that is in the best overall interest of the school district. Soderberg will remain as the school’s associate principal, which requires a great deal of his time.
Leipart issued a statement Wednesday saying, “We want to assure our athletes, students, parents, and community that we have total confidence that we can bring in a new coach to prepare our student athletes to be a successful program moving forward.”
Soderberg and coach Adam Smith have been on paid leave after what was called a “reported interaction” with a parent February 9th after a game in Green Bay.
