WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) A mother reported to Wisconsin Rapids police that her child received candy with a nail inside it while trick-or-treating on Halloween.
The woman reported the incident on Monday night. She said her child was trick-or-treating in the neighborhood around the library in Nekoosa and on Clark Street near 21st Avenue South in Wisconsin Rapids. She was not sure which home gave out the tainted candy. Police say they do not have any additional leads in the case.
Wisconsin Rapids PD says anyone with information should call Wood County CrimeStoppers at 877-325-7867. Anyone with information can remain anonymous. Anyone who provides a tip that leads to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.Police advise parents to inspect all candy before allowing their children to eat it.
Candy that appears to be unsealed or that has a broken or damaged wrapper should be thrown away.
