MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) — A Marshfield man is facing child prostitution and pornography charges after he responded to a Craigslist ad targeting child sex predators.
42-year-old Jared Teche is facing ten counts of possessing child pornography and soliciting a child prostitution.
Court documents indicate the ad was posted by an officer from the Eau Claire Police Department, posing as the father of two girls. The ad claims their mother is away, and girls ages eight and eleven are available.
Teche agreed to pay 400-dollars to have sexual contact with the 8-year-old, and had arranged a meeting with the girl October 27th, but backed out after suspecting the ad was a sting operation. BY then it was too late. Teche had sent a nude photo of himself to the officer.
An email from Teche was traced to an I-P address in Marshfield, and investigators discovered more than 90 images and videos of child pornography at his home.
Teche told officers he was simply trying to protect children from child sex trafficking.
He is scheduled to enter pleas to the charges January third.
